~ Trick-or-Treat...Who Can It Be? ~

Thinking of You Marci is all set to go trick or treating!  The theme for today's Inspiration Friday is turquoise and black.  I tried coloring up Marci in traditional colors, however, as I was coloring her she kept telling me she really wanted to be Franken"Marci" for Halloween.  Yes, when I am creating, my stamps and designs tend to talk to me either as I am actually in the process of creating or in my dreams.  It may sound crazy but I am ok with that...lol...and Marci is now very happy and ready to trick or treat!

You can't be a Franken"Marci" without a few scars and bolts, which I added with my multi-liner, a touch of turquoise tint (BG10) and some platform shoes.  Plus, she makes such a cute Franken"Marci" I felt she needed a spiderweb crown to complete her outfit!

La-La Land's Icicle Border Die reminds me of Frankenstein's hair so I couldn't help but add that to my card to give it an extra spooky look and you can't go trick-or-treating without something to put your treats in so I cut off the pumpkin from the the little girl in the Happy Boo To You Clear Stamp Set and gave it to Franken"Marci" to put all her goodies in.

Now for the important part!  "Thinking of You Marci" is a cute little girl in an adorable outfit and in order for me to create her costume I needed to add a few embellished details.  When you add details such as a nose, stitches, bolts, etc., like I have done on Marci, this is called "Creative Color Placement and/or Details."  I asked Irina Blount, the owner of La-La Land Crafts, if it would be ok with her if I added these details.  Irina was gracious enough to allow me to be creative and listen to what Marci wanted!  Every company has their own Angel Policy and it's usually listed on their website.  If you do not see it posted, you need to contact them and get permission before you change someone else's artwork. There are some companies and artists who will not allow you to enhance or change their images...so please be respectful and check first and honor their wishes...Thank You!

~ 31 Nights of Halloween Blog Celebration - Night 24 ~

Hi everyone and welcome to Day 24 of Whimsy Stamp's 2nd Annual 31 Nights of Halloween Blog Celebration!  I am sharing with you again the card I made using my all time favorite stamp, Hot Sip, from the DoveArt's line of rubber stamps.  This stamp is so versatile and can be used with many different techniques.  I've chosen paper piecing and embossing for this Halloween project.

I first stamped the Hot Sip image onto pattern paper and then trimmed around the image and cut out the inside of the handle.  I then inked and stamped the steam with a sandy colored pigment ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I cut a slit into the top of the image and slid the steam down into it and taped it to the back of the cup to keep it in place.  I added Snow Cap White Dimensional Fabric Paint from Tulip to make the  whipped cream and added vintage glass glitter for some chocolate bits for my latte.  Yummm!  To make the coffee cup look curved I first inked around the edges of the cup to give it some depth and shadow and adhered it to my card using different heights of dimensional foam tape so it would stay curved on my card.

    ~ A Heartfelt Harvest Thank You ~

Hi Everyone....I'm back today showcasing another card from my monochromatic with a pop of color series.  I think this DoveArt's "Pumkin Patch" Stamp from Whimsy Stamps looks stunning in this color combination proving that you do not always have to color things in their traditional color schemes.

Adding a pop of red behind each letter really gives the word "Thanks" that 3D look.  I stamped a portion of the Pumpkin Patch image a second time to ensure that the heart was cut out exactly where I wanted it to and then I colored it in the reds before adhering it to the pumpkin.  That way I didn't ruin my colored version if I didn't like it.  The heart on the small pumpkin was done using the brush nib of my R29.  I added rhinestones to the flower centers and randomly inside the oval to add to the dimension and to balance the card design.

    ~ A Special La-La Land Treat Bag for My Boo-tiful Friend ~

Today's La-La Land Crafts Team Friday Inspiration's Challenge was to create a treat holder.  I had so much fun creating this treat bag including the pattern.  I decided to make my treat bag big so i could fit a lot of Reeses Peanut Butter Pumpkins in it since they are my absolute favorite!  YUM!!!

I couldn't help myself...I wanted the back of the treat bag to be cute, too!

    How fun is this bag?!!!

La-La Land has so many incredible dies that it allows your imagination to be able to run free and create until your hearts content!  I used the Stitched Zigzags Die to die cut three different colors of cardstock and intertwined them together. I totally love how easy this was to do and how fantastic it looks!  I offset two different colors of cardstock using the Cobweb Die and the spider from the Spiderweb & Spider Die Set so they would stand out.  I added rhinestone eyes to the spiders to make them look extra creepy.  The ghosts and bats are adhered on both sides of the wire so they look like they are flying through the air.

    ~ A Special Scenic Birthday Wish ~

This DoveArt's Canoe Stamp from Whimsy Stamps makes the perfect masculine card or the perfect card for the nature lover.  There are so many design possibilities with this stamp.  I chose to put it in my series of card designs using the monochromatic with a pop of color technique.  In this series of card designs I am also using the Basic Stitched Ovals Die Set on every card.  I love finding different ways to use the same set of dies on each card design to give them their own special look.  On this card the image is cut out twice with two different sized ovals and popped up using dimensional foam tape at different heights with the smaller oval being higher than the bigger oval.  It really gives the canoe that 3-D dimension I was going for.  I not only used the larger oval die to cut half an oval out of the black cardstock but I also embossed this piece with the Wire Fence Embossing Folder by Darice.  This element in my design gives the card balance and the embossing along with the red twine and black rhinestones gives the card texture.

You can see my first card design in this series HERE.

~ All Things with Love ~

Happy World Card Making Day!!!  Today I want to share with you this beautiful DoveArt's Heart Tree stamp from Whimsy Stamps.  This Heart Tree can be used for so many different occasions not just Valentine's Day.  I think it would make a beautiful wedding, anniversary or even birthday card.

I totally love making monochromatic cards with a pop of color which is a perfect technique for making a sympathy card.  I decided to color just one falling heart red to convey my heartfelt sympathy.  I just love the message this design conveys to the recipient!

~ Happy Fall from Foxy & La-La Land Crafts ~

    Happy Friday Everyone,

I'm back sharing with you today my La-La Land Craft's Inspiration Friday creation.  The theme is fall leaves.  Foxy is enjoying a beautiful fall day amongst the trees and blue sky.  I used the Birch Trees Die to cut out a few tree trunks out of some really cool woodgrain paper I had.  I colored them with my Copic E30 to give them a more realistic look and to bring out the cream color of the background paper.

To create the beautiful blue sky, I used my airbrush machine, torn paper towel and my Copic B41...  super quick and easy.  This technique makes the perfect sky background!
